The same part of our brain is responsible for interpreting hunger and thirst signals. This results in mixed signals and confusion. Often we feel hungry even after we have had our food. This usually is a thirst signal by our body. But in reality, we end up consuming unwanted calories.
So what should one do? At such a time, your best bet is to drink a tall glass of water and wait for at least 15 minutes. If it was a thirst signal, you should be fine. But if the stomach keeps grumbling then reach out for that snack.
You can avoid this confusion by staying hydrated generally. Keep a bottle of water handy and keep sipping because when you feel thirsty, you are already dehydrated.
Keep sipping good old H2O!
